Auditor of Public Accounts Ed Hatchett will host a Summit on Computer Network Security for agency heads, IT managers, and technicians in state government. The summit will begin with an executive briefing for agency heads and university representatives on October 17th which will be followed by a series of one day technical workshops for government and university IT staffs.
A Response to Hacker Threats, Worms, Viruses, and More Serious Forms of Cyber-Terrorism The summit workshops will cover network security best practices. The curriculum was developed in response to state government IT vulnerabilities in the face of numerous attacks in the form of the Nimda worm, the Code Red worm, and the Melissa and ILoveYou viruses, as well as more serious threats posed by cyber-terrorism. Auditors will also discuss their emerging focus on information technology systems in order to protect citizen taxpayers. State CIO Aldona Valicenti, State Auditor Ed Hatchett, and IT Audit Director Brian Lykins will present at the Summit. Auditor of Public Accounts CIO B.J. Bellamy will present the technical workshops along with other technicians from the Governors Office for Technology. |
