(Frankfort - January 28, 2004)
State Auditor Crit Luallen announced today that the University of Louisville Foundation, Inc. (Foundation) has voluntarily agreed that the Auditor's Office will examine records related to Dr. John Shumaker's tenure at the University of Louisville. The Auditor previously reviewed work performed by University of Louisville internal auditors, examined additional records related to University expenditures and will now examine expenditures made by the Foundation. This examination will focus on areas of spending which could have resulted in an inappropriate personal benefit to Dr. Shumaker.
"We're pleased to receive the cooperation of the Foundation so that we can move forward with this review to assure the public that a thorough examination has been conducted of all areas that may have resulted in an inappropriate benefit," Luallen commented. The review of the records will begin on Wednesday, January 28 and is expected to continue for approximately two weeks. A report of findings will be issued at the conclusion of the examination. |
