(Frankfort - April 29, 2004)
Auditor of Public Accounts Crit Luallen will represent the Commonwealth of Kentucky as a Pacesetter and speaker at the 2004 Southern Women in Public Service Conference held May 2-4 in Atlanta. The conference brings together women from the local, state, and federal levels of government together with academic and business leaders to discuss the importance of women's leadership and share in the belief that a positive difference can be made through public service.
The Pacesetter program recognizes outstanding women who are leaders in public service. The program invites a select few, proven women leaders from each Southern state to come and share their experiences and encourage other women leaders to pursue avenues of greater service. "I am once again honored to be recognized as a Pacesetter and will continue to champion the causes of not just women, but of all Kentuckians through my public service," said Luallen. As a part of this special Pacesetter program each honored Pacesetter is invited to designate one person to receive a scholarship to the conference. Auditor Luallen has selected Jean-Marie Lawson of Bowling Green, Kentucky to receive this scholarship. Confirmed speakers for this year's conference include Former Chief Spokeswomen for The Pentagon Torie Clarke, Mayor of Atlanta Shirley Franklin, and US Senator from Louisiana Mary Landrieu.
