Auditor of Public Accounts Ed Hatchett released the audit of the $6 billion in federal funds that flowed into Kentucky in Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2002.
Known as SSWAK, the report of the Statewide Single Audit of Kentucky expressed an unqualified opinion. The FY 2001 SSWAK was qualified. An unqualified opinion means the Commonwealth complied in all material respects with the requirements of its major federal programs. The audit contained 53 reportable findings, 7 of which are material to the Commonwealth’s financial statement. Some of the findings addressed in the report include: “ We are pleased to issue an unqualified opinion since the previous year was qualified. We still are concerned about the vulnerability of the computer system that handles all the financial transactions for the Commonwealth of Kentucky,” said Auditor Hatchett. |
