Division of Performance Audit |
|
|
The Division of Performance Audit was created in May of 1997 to expand the scope of taxpayer protection
in Kentucky. The Division of Performance Audit conducts performance audits of state programs to determine if these programs are running
effectively and efficiently. Performance auditors determine if state funded programs have the desired impact and meet their statutory
or regulatory criteria. Audits may be requested by the Auditor of Public Accounts, Legislature, Governor, constitutional officers, or
the public.
The results of some of the Division of Performance Audit's work include the following: a comprehensive study that showed Kentucky State
Government could save $107 million by reimporting pharmaceuticals from Canada, the first ever review of Kentucky's Sex Offender Registry,
a comprehensive review of the Commonwealth's contracting practices, and the state's ability to maximize federal funds flowing into Kentucky.
