Chief of Staff

Bennett, who has more than two decades of state government experience, served as commissioner and chief law enforcement officer for the Kentucky Departments of Fish and Wildlife Resources from 1993 to 2005 and the Kentucky Department for Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement in 1988. He also was the deputy secretary of the Kentucky Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Cabinet and deputy secretary of Gov. Brereton Jones' Executive Cabinet.

Will Carle has three years of government experience, serving in the role of Executive Aide to Adam Edelen in both the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security and in the Office of the Governor. Carle has 6 years of private experience as a political and business consultant. Will resides in Louisville with his wife Julie and their two daughters.

Assistant State Auditor

APA Audit Experience: With the APA since 1997, except for 10 months when employed with the Finance and Administration Cabinet on the GASB 34 Implementation Team

Libby Carlin is a Certified Public Accountant, and began her state government career in 1997. Most of her state government experience has been with the Auditor of Public Account in positions including financial auditor, quality assurance auditor, and financial audit manager. In addition to her current position as Assistant Auditor of Public Accounts, Ms. Carlin also serves as Executive Director for the Office of Financial Audits. Ms. Carlin is originally from Eastern, Kentucky, in Floyd County, and graduated from Morehead State University with bachelor and masters degrees in business administration. She currently lives in Georgetown with her husband, Kevin, and their daughter.

Nathan Cryder has a diverse professional background in fields ranging from technology to education to the non-profit sector. From 2005-2010, he was the Executive Director of Global Gain Social Investments, a non-profit organization committed to expanding entrepreneurship and innovation in underdeveloped countries. Prior to this, he was a founding partner of TrueStep, LLC, a Lexington-based multimedia company specializing in corporate web development, video production, and marketing. Nathan holds dual Masters degrees in International Diplomacy & Commerce and Sociology from the University of Kentucky. While in graduate school, he taught web design and video editing at Bluegrass Community and Technical College and served as a Research Associate for the University of Kentucky Appalachian Center. From 1998-1999, he lived in Limassol, Cyprus, where he taught History and Humanities at Limassol International School. Nathan grew up in Nicholasville, Kentucky and now makes his home in Lexington with his wife and two children.

Executive Assistant to Auditor Adam Edelen

Prior to joining the Auditor's Office, Mitzi served as the extradition officer in the Governor's Office for over 6 years. She also has worked as an executive assistant at the Kentucky Supreme Court for Chief Justice Joseph Lambert. Mitzi is originally from Louisville and has an Associate Degree in Office Administration from Jefferson Community College. She resides in Frankfort with her husband and three children.

Director of the Office of Technology and Special Audits

Brian Lykins is a Certified Information Systems Auditor and a Certified Fraud Examiner with 24 years of experience in the State Auditor's Office. Mr. Lykins started his career as a financial auditor and currently serves as Director of the Office of Technology and Special Audits, as well as, agency Chief Information Officer. Lykins directs the audit staff who conducts Performance Audits, Information Technology Audits, Special Examinations, and provides support for technology services. Lykins is originally from Ashland, Kentucky and graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.

General Counsel

Bob McBeath has practiced law for 27 years. He began his career as a Law Clerk for former Chief Justice John S. Palmore at the Kentucky Supreme Court, where he also later served as Staff Counsel and Supreme Court Administrator. After a seven year stint in in the private sector abroad as an international law practitioner, he returned to public service in Kentucky. He is an 11-year veteran with the Auditor of Public Accounts, where he previously served as General Counsel and more recently served as Legal Counsel. A Kentucky native, he received his undergraduate degree from Stetson University and law degree from the University of Louisville.

Communications Director

Prior to joining the Auditor's office in January 2012, Stephenie Steitzer was the senior writer and digital marketing coordinator at Keeneland. She transitioned to public relations and marketing after a 13-year career as a newspaper reporter. She has worked at The Courier-Journal statehouse bureau in Frankfort, The Kentucky Post and The Daily Review (Towanda, Pa.) and interned at The Wall Street Journal Washington bureau, Cincinnati Enquirer and Centre Daily Times (State College, Pa.). Steitzer is originally from Towanda, Pa., and graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science in journalism.
